The most important innovations introduced among the women's swimwear by the various manufacturers concern the use of new and technological fabrics that are, on the one hand, able to reduce resistance to a minimum and increase the compressive and floating characteristics, and on the other, with an excellent fit and comfort, in order to meet all the needs of the athletes.

Let's see in more detail the swimwears recently on the market, to which we have given a rating from 1 to 5 in the categories of Fit, Design, Easy to wear, Material / fabric, Compression and Performance.

Arena Carbon Core FX

Model wears Arena Carbon Core FX swimwear

  • Fit: 5
  • Design: 4.5
  • Ease of wearing: 4.5
  • Material / fabric: 4.4
  • Compression: 5
  • Performance: 5

This swimwear, successor of the Carbon Flex, adapts perfectly to the hips, legs and chest, offering high compression, and is equipped with thin and flexible straps that allow amplitude in the movement of the upper body. The ultra-compressive material of the Carbon Cage technology is combined with a double lining lining present in the chest and abdomen, which ensures maximum compression, while the muscles of the legs and hips are covered by a carbon cage that allows compression more flexible. The back muscles of the thigh and buttocks are also supported by a double taping, which helps to maintain the maximum height of the hips on the surface of the water, making this swimwear ideal for the butterfly and the frog. Compared to its predecessor, this swimwear presents a further improvement of the stability of the set-up, which considerably reduces the friction of the water and guarantees a high level of flotation. This swimwear, with an excellent fit and a simple and elegant design, is therefore perfect for sprinters and two hundred and for those looking for a high compression of the bust and hips, but do not want the straps too tight.

Arena Carbon Glide

Model wears Arena Carbon Glide swimwear

  • Fit: 4
  • Design: 4
  • Ease of wearing: 5
  • Material / fabric: 4.5
  • Compression: 3.5
  • Performance: 4

The Arena Carbon Glide, successor of the Arena Carbon Air2, is a swimwear that is very easy to wear and very comfortable on the water. It adapts to every curve of the body, is very light and breathable and offers minimal compression of the muscles of the body, greater than that of Carbon Air2, but still less than that of Carbon Core FX.
The high-neck design, the long cut of the legs and the thin and flexible straps give this swimwear an excellent fit, while the ultra-thin material makes it very easy to wear, and it is precisely for this flexibility that it is advisable to take a smaller size than what you usually buy.
Carbon Glide also combines three different fabrics to support every type of swimmer's need: flexibility, compression and muscle support. The upper part of the body is in fact covered with a single light and thin material that allows maximum freedom of movement; the fabric of the internal lining instead allows better wrapping and muscle support, while the Carbon Cage technology, combined with a light fabric of carbon used on the hips and legs, gives a slight compression, ideal for swimmers of long distances.
This swimwear, with a simple design, is available in the ocean blue option with red logo, or in the black one with gold logo. Thanks to its characteristics that make it very comfortable and perfect for those who have to wear it for long periods of time, it is ideal for those who do not like excessive compression or for athletes who must purchase a competition swimwear for the first time.

Speedo LZR Pure Intent

Model wears Speedo LZR Pure Intent swimwear

  • Fit: 5
  • Design: 5
  • Ease of wearing: 4
  • Material / fabric: 5
  • Compression: 5
  • Performance: 5

Speedo has launched two new race swimwears for the 2020 Games; the two swimwears differ in the level of compression, decidedly higher in Pure Intent compared to Pure Valor, but both maintain the same characteristics of adaptation to the body and design. LRZ Pure Intent has been designed to offer the athlete maximum power, flexibility, speed and compression. Like all the LRZ Fastskin models that preceded it, this swimsuit has the same leg length and high neck cut, while the precision straps have been made even more flexible and comfortable thanks to the addition of a high power elastic.
The best minds of textile engineering have designed a combination of three different types of fabric, so as to obtain a perfect balance between compression and maximum freedom of movement. The textured fabric, inspired by the "shark skin" and inserted in strategic areas of the swimwear such as the chest, legs and buttocks, is able to reduce resistance during swimming and offer the athlete excellent hydrodynamics. Double compression layers have instead been positioned in correspondence of the denser muscle groups and have been alternated with panels of flexibility, which, in addition to making this swimwear easy to wear, allow better possibilities of movement and rotation, which make this swimwear ideal for freestyle and back.
Speedo Pure Intent is available in both the closed (closed back) and open (open back) versions and is available on the market in red, black and silver.

Speedo LRZ Pure Valor

Model wears a Speedo LZR Pure Valor swimwear

  • Fit: 5
  • Design: 4
  • Ease of wearing: 4.75
  • Material / fabric: 5
  • Compression: 4
  • Performance: 4.5

Speedo Pure Valor is an extremely comfortable swimsuit, easy to wear and designed to be extremely light, flexible and fast, and is equipped with the same design and the same silhouette as the Speedo Pure Intent. The fabric adapts perfectly to the body, thus making it impossible to enter the water.
The area of the abdomen and chest is made up of a double layer of fabric which guarantees better rigidity and stability, while moderate compression is given in the legs and hips by a thin layer of fabric, combined with numerous internal seams that offer greater support to the muscles during thrusts from the wall.
Speedo Pure Valor is also extremely comfortable: its strength is in fact the precision straps, which combined with finishes positioned around the neck and under the arm under the arm make it even more comfortable during the performance. This swimwear, available both in the open back and in the closed back version and in the pink, black and aqua green colors, is therefore perfect for athletes looking for a muscle compression higher than that offered by the Arena Carbon Glide, but lower than that of the Speedo Pure Intent or Arena Carbon Core.

Tyr Venzo

Model wears swimwear TYR Venzo

  • Fit: 4.4
  • Design: 4.5
  • Ease of wearing: 3
  • Material / fabric: 4.5
  • Compression: 4.5
  • Performance: 4.5

This swimwear, although it requires a lot of patience to be worn and is equipped with narrower straps than those of other brands, is very comfortable.
TYR Venzo presents two new highly innovative fabrics that not only reduce resistance, but prevent water from entering the swimwear; the analysis of the resistance at the microscopic level has in fact allowed to create a "friction-free" fiber that is able to slide the water along the fabric with almost zero resistance. The new Endo Compression technology, combined with double layers of fabric along the chest, quadriceps and hips, allows for greater body lifting and better buoyancy. A single layer of tissue at the level of the back muscles of the thigh and abdomen allows greater flexibility and freedom of movement. This extremely technological and resistant fabric has been made even more hydrodynamic than other swimwears on the market thanks to the absence of external seams.
TYR Venzo, available in both the open back and closed back versions, has a beautiful design appearance, ideal for those who love colorful swimwears and patterns. When worn, it offers a feeling very similar to the Mizuno GX-Sonic V and for its compression characteristics it is recommended for athletes who swim short distances.

Mizuno GX-SONIC V

  • Fit: 4
  • Design: 4
  • Ease of wearing: 3
  • Material / fabric: 4.5
  • Compression: 4.5
  • Performance: 4

This swimwear is available in two versions, one for sprinters (ST) and one for swimmers of medium distances (MR).
Despite the difficulties in wearing it the first few times, the swimwear adapts very well to the body and offers high compression on the hips and legs, less in the MR version than in the ST version, but still high for a swimwear for medium distances . It is very comfortable on the upper body; it is equipped with flexible straps that allow full mobility of the back and shoulders and, unlike other swimwears, it is the only one to cover the central part of the back, making the entry of water even more difficult.
It is currently on the market in the only navy blue color; it is built with different varieties of fabrics including a thin layer of paper, an ultra-compressor and a double-layer material on the chest which, combined with internal panels, offers perfect compression in the upper body. The ultra-compressive fabrics and the internal taping offer good flotation and hydrodynamics, allowing the body to always remain very high on the water surface. The fabric also has excellent water-repellent qualities and maintains perfect adherence to the body even after wearing it many times.
This model is therefore ideal for those who appreciate high compression on the legs and at the same time seek flexibility and comfort in the upper part. , is definitely one of the best discoveries among competition swimwears for 2020.
